Preserving the Gorge

Along the banks of the Columbia River sits a site with a story stretching back over a century. Built in the early 1900s, this former industrial property played its part in the region’s industrial history and now it’s entering a new chapter. As the site undergoes decommissioning and restoration, the goal is to return the land to a local Native tribe.

3 Kings Environmental was proud to be brought in to support this meaningful work. Our team partnered with the property owner, fellow contractors, and the tribe to identify potentially harmful materials present on-site and develop a comprehensive clean-up strategy. Restoring a site with this kind of history requires care at every step, not only to protect the land and water, but to honor what this project means for the community it’s being returned to.

Sites like this carry weight beyond their industrial footprint. The Columbia River Gorge is one of the Pacific Northwest’s most treasured landscapes, and this project is a powerful reminder of what responsible remediation can make possible. It’s not just about compliance, but restoration in the truest sense: returning land to the people it belongs to.
